How to fix Cydia error “wow, you exceeded the number of package names this APT is capable of”

exceeded-number-of-cydia-package-names

Maybe you got this error when you open Cydia :”wow, you exceeded the number of package names this APT is capable of.” In this post i will learn you how to fix it.

Why does this problem occur?

According to Saurik himself, Cydia “downloads all of the package listings locally, and then APT consolidates them into a single efficient data structure that can be used even on memory-constrained devices to access the massive wad of packages later.” The problem is that this data structure is only capable of hosting a total of 65,535 packages. When you instal Cydia, you will get 40,000 packages. So you can get an additional 25,000 packages. Maybe you added some sources that contains cracked tweaks, so thats normal.

How to fix this error?

To fix is very simple. Here are the steps:

  1. Open Cydia
  2. Go to Manage—> Sources (on iPhone, iPod) go to Sources( on iPad)
  3. Tap Edit and delete a few sources, but do not delete the default sources (BigBoss, Cydia/Telesphoreo, Dev Team, ModMyI, ZodTTD) because there are the most tweaks.
  4. Maybe you need to do a refresh. Go to Changes—>Refresh. You must wait a little.

I hope i solved your problem. If you got other problem or this isnt fixed your problem, please let a comment below or contact us on our Contact page.
